| Reverse description | A large numeral '2' occupies the centre of the field, surmounted by a St. Edward's Crown, the whole enclosed within a wreath of oak leaves tied at the base. An inner beaded border separates the central device from the peripheral legend COLONIES OF ESSEQUEBO & DEMERARY TOKEN, which arcs around the upper and lateral margins. The date 1809 appears in the exergue below the wreath, flanked by the lower terminals of the oak branches. The design is crisp and emblematic, consistent with British colonial token coinage of the period. |
