Obverse description Central field occupied by a four-line Arabic tughra-style legend reading the royal titulature of Sultan Selim III, arranged in horizontal registers across the flan. The inscription is rendered in bold, calligraphic Ottoman script typical of late 18th-century Maghrebi coinage. A plain inner circle frames the legend, itself surrounded by a raised beaded border running along the entire coin periphery. The die-struck lettering displays the characteristic crude workmanship associated with the Tripoli West provincial mint.
