背面描述 Archaic female head in right profile, likely representing Aphrodite or a local nymph, set within a shallow incuse square. The hair is rendered in a knotted chignon at the nape, with tightly crimped or waved locks framing the face in the severe archaic manner. The facial features are finely engraved with a straight nose and strong jaw characteristic of early fifth-century BC Greek coinage. The field is plain and no legend or inscription appears.

附加信息

Leukas occupied an unusual constitutional position among Corinthian colonies — functioning as a dependent polis that nonetheless struck its own coinage, something Corinth permitted selectively and for reasons that remain debated. These hemidrachms circulated alongside the dominant Corinthian stater system in the northwest Greek maritime corridor, where Leukas served as a critical waypoint between the Corinthian Gulf and the Ionian Sea. The BCD Akarnania reference citing a variety suggests die differences from the Copenhagen specimen, likely reflecting multiple short-lived die pairs rather than any organized series.
