| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is executed in a vibrant multicolour lithographic style by artist Wk. Schäfer, enclosed within the same zigzag border as the obverse. The central vignette portrays a man and woman in traditional Hunsrück regional folk costume standing against a stylised rural landscape with dark foliage; the man smokes a pipe and the woman stands at his side with one hand on her hip. Above the figures, a two-line inscription in local Hunsrück dialect runs across a dark banner, with a further two-line dialect verse in a lower panel. The printer's imprint L. SCHWANN-DÜSSELDORF. appears at the foot of the note. |

Simmern, the administrative seat of the Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis, issued this note during the acute small-change famine that gripped postwar Germany as silver coinage disappeared from circulation and the Reichsbank struggled to produce adequate fractional currency. District committees across the country were authorized — loosely — to fill that gap with their own Kleingeldersatz, and thousands of local authorities did exactly that.
L. Schwann of Düsseldorf was a serious printing house with a long history in commercial and cartographic work, not a jobbing printer. The Schäfer design credit is uncommon enough in Notgeld documentation to be worth noting for anyone tracking this designer's regional output.
