| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in green, red, and black on white paper, with a green border frame. The large gothic script title 'Stadt Sparkasse' runs across the top centre, flanked on both sides by denomination numerals '5 Mark' in bold black. Three vignette panels occupy the centre zone: at left, a humorous illustration of a penny-farthing bicycle labelled 'Bielefelder Bau'; at centre, a comic scene of a jester and a farmer wrestling with a rearing red donkey; at right, a caricature of a figure with the inscription 'Bielefelder Pulver'. Below the vignettes, a caption text in German script narrates the donkey episode, followed by the place and date 'Bielefeld, 15. Juli 1921' and the payment order text 'zahle gegen diese Platzanweisung aus unserem Guthaben an Überbringer der Magistrat', with a manuscript signature below and a large alphanumeric serial number at right.
