A circular legend is arranged between the outer rim and an inner bead circle: ЛІТАКИ УКРАЇНИ (Airplanes of Ukraine) arcs across the upper portion, while АН-140 in Cyrillic and AN-140 in Latin script appear in the lower arc. The Antonov 'An' design bureau logotype is depicted between the two script renditions of the aircraft designation. |

The AN-140 was a turboprop regional aircraft developed jointly by Ukraine's Antonov bureau and Iran's HESA, intended to replace the aging Soviet-era An-24 on short-haul routes. Ukraine's push to commemorate it in 2004 was partly promotional — the domestic production line at Kharkiv Aviation Plant was still struggling to secure orders, and state-backed visibility was one lever available to the government.
The Iranian variant, the IrAn-140, suffered a string of fatal crashes between 2002 and 2014, significantly damaging the program's commercial prospects.
