| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in concentric circular fashion, characteristic of early Umayyad epigraphic coinage. The field is entirely occupied by the religious declaration (Shahada) and mint formula, rendered in archaic Kufic script. A circular marginal legend surrounds the central text, framed by a beaded border. No figural imagery is present, consistent with the Islamic aniconic tradition. The overall style reflects the transitional Arab-Byzantine monetary tradition of al-Andalus circa AH 97. |
