| Obverse description | Heroic bust of King Amyntas facing left, helmeted with a crested Macedonian-style helmet adorned with a bull's horn, the effigy draped and shown holding a spear over the right shoulder and a shield (decorated with a boss pattern) in the left arm. The portrait is rendered in a bold Hellenistic style with strong modelling of the facial features. The circular Greek legend reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΝΙΚΑΤΟΡΟΣ ΑΜΥΝΤΟΥ (of the victorious king Amyntas) around the field. |
