| Reverse description | A crab depicted frontally in high relief, centered within a broad, shallow incuse square typical of early Sicilian archaic coinage. The creature's carapace, claws, and radiating legs are rendered with considerable naturalistic detail, the eyes projecting prominently above the shell. The incuse treatment creates a bold contrast between the raised type and the recessed surrounding field, a hallmark of the earliest Himera didrachm series. The reverse design served as a civic emblem referencing the aquatic resources of the region. |
