Obverse description The obverse displays three distinct countermarks applied to the host coin. Multiple crowned "G" punches are arranged around the periphery of the field, each representing the royal cypher of King George III. At the center of the coin, two additional countermarks are stamped: "IW" and "IH", denoting the authorizing officials or local administrators responsible for the validation. The countermarks are punched directly onto the original host coin surface, obliterating portions of the underlying design.
