Minglanilla is a small municipality in Cuenca province, Castilla–La Mancha. This 50 céntimos note is one of hundreds of locally issued emergency fractional pieces that flooded Republican-held Spain after July 1936, when the military uprising caused coins to vanish from circulation almost immediately — hoarded, melted, or simply lost in the chaos. Municipal councils, trade unions, and cooperatives across the country filled the gap with whatever they could print or stamp.
The Gari Montaner reference places this firmly in the documented corpus of Cuenca provincial issues, though Minglanilla examples appear infrequently on the market.
