Dues-aigües is a municipality in the Valencia region with a population that barely reached a few hundred during the 1930s — an almost absurdly small community to be issuing its own emergency paper currency. This note is a product of the Republican zone's wartime monetary fragmentation: after the July 1936 uprising disrupted coin supplies across loyalist Spain, hundreds of Catalan and Valencian municipalities printed their own fractional notes to keep local commerce moving.
Tipografia La Fleca in Reus produced notes for numerous small municipalities during this period, functioning essentially as a regional printer of emergency scrip. Turró catalogs this as #919.
