Beschrijving voorzijde Salmon-orange notgeld printed in dark brown ink, with a stylised arched vignette at centre bearing the large numeral '25' within a hatched circular cartouche set atop a tent-like decorative form with scrolled lateral extensions. A multi-line Gothic-script literary quotation fills the body of the central vignette, while the legend 'PFENNIG PFENNIG' arches across the upper field. At the foot, validity text in roman type reads left and a manuscript signature for the municipal council appears at lower right, accompanied by a small heraldic emblem.

Dezember 1921.

Opmerkingen

Doberan — now Bad Doberan, a small spa town in Mecklenburg — was among the thousands of German municipalities forced to issue Notgeld during the acute small-change shortage that followed World War One. The 1921 date places this note in the second wave of local emergency currency, by which point many town councils had turned their scrip into minor graphic art projects, commissioning local artists and printing runs that were deliberately kept small for the collector trade.

Whether this particular Doberan piece was issued for genuine circulation or primarily as Serienscheine — collector-oriented series notes — would require examining the surviving print run figures, which for most Rat der Stadt issues were never formally recorded.
