Egypt's P#65 series had a notably long run — over seventeen years without a major redesign, which is unusual for a denomination of this size in a country that has periodically used currency reform as a political signal. The 20 Pound note sat at a practical mid-range value through two periods of significant economic stress: the managed exchange rate era under Mubarak and the currency float of November 2016, when the Egyptian pound lost roughly half its value against the dollar almost overnight.

Cotton substrate was standard Central Bank practice throughout this period. The security thread specification did not materially change across the series run, which collectors sometimes use to narrow dating when the printed year is worn or ambiguous.
