Moulay Sulayman's reign was defined by deliberate isolation — he closed Moroccan ports to most foreign trade, suppressed the Atlantic commercial routes his predecessors had cultivated, and turned sharply inward. The bronze falus coinage of his period reflects this: issues without mint names were common, partly because centralized minting authority was frequently contested by regional power structures, and partly because attribution was simply not a priority for small-denomination circulation coinage.
The absence of a mint name on Eustache 657 makes precise attribution to Fez, Marrakesh, or any other facility effectively impossible without die-linkage studies.
