| Description du revers | The reverse depicts a highly detailed, three-dimensional bust of a stereotypical extraterrestrial 'grey alien' rendered in antique silver finish, with an oversized, ovoid cranium exhibiting a subtly textured surface. The face features two large, almond-shaped eyes enhanced with vivid blue and green color-applied irises, a vestigial nasal cavity, and a thin, closed mouth. The slender neck descends to a broad, minimally defined shoulder and chest area that forms the base of the shaped planchet. The sculptural modelling is exceptionally high relief, exploiting the irregular alien-head form of the coin to create a striking three-dimensional portrait evoking popular depictions of the alleged Roswell, New Mexico UFO incident of 1947. |

The BCEAO has issued novelty bullion pieces under the CFA franc denomination since the mid-2010s, licensing pop-culture and historical curiosity themes — UFOs, famous mysteries, conspiracy touchstones — for collector markets in Europe and North America. These have no meaningful circulation history in West Africa and are produced entirely for export sale. The Roswell incident itself, the 1947 crash near Roswell, New Mexico, generated its mythology largely through a 1978 book by Stanton Friedman rather than any contemporaneous public hysteria.
