| Obverse description | The obverse presents the national arms of Burkina Faso at center, featuring two rearing stallions flanking a quartered shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the country name 'BURKINA FASO' and encircled by additional decorative elements. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO' arcs around the upper field, while the denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed below the arms. The date '2017' appears in a recessed rectangular cartouche at lower left, and the fineness mark '1 OZ AG .999' is similarly positioned at lower right. The entire design is struck in antique finish on a flan shaped in the silhouette of an alien bust, with the head and shoulder contour defining the irregular planchet. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a highly detailed, three-dimensional bust of a stereotypical extraterrestrial 'grey alien' rendered in antique silver finish, with an oversized, ovoid cranium exhibiting a subtly textured surface. The face features two large, almond-shaped eyes enhanced with vivid blue and green color-applied irises, a vestigial nasal cavity, and a thin, closed mouth. The slender neck descends to a broad, minimally defined shoulder and chest area that forms the base of the shaped planchet. The sculptural modelling is exceptionally high relief, exploiting the irregular alien-head form of the coin to create a striking three-dimensional portrait evoking popular depictions of the alleged Roswell, New Mexico UFO incident of 1947. |
