| Mô tả mặt sau | The reverse depicts a dynamic high-relief rendering of Triton, the Greek sea deity, shown as a muscular bearded figure with a fish-tail lower body, riding upon a large coiling sea creature or ketos in the central field. Triton is portrayed in a vigorous pose, his upper body turned and arms outstretched as he grasps a conch shell horn and a trident, conveying power and maritime dominion. The scales and fins of both figures are rendered with fine detail against the deeply mirrored proof field. The curved legend ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS arcs across the upper portion of the coin within a beaded border. |

| Thông tin bổ sung |
Barbados launched its gold coinage program in the late 1970s and early 1980s partly as a mechanism for generating hard currency revenue through collector and bullion markets — a strategy common among small Caribbean nations following the collapse of the Bretton Woods system. The .500 fineness is a deliberate economic choice, not a metallurgical one: it halved the gold content relative to a fine-gold equivalent while keeping the coin accessible at lower spot prices.
The Triton series drew on Barbados's specific maritime mythology rather than generic Caribbean imagery, distinguishing it from the flood of similar collector issues produced by regional neighbors in the same period.
