Obverse description The obverse is printed in blue and brown on a cream paper ground with a fine horizontal-line underprint. A bold starburst vignette in blue at centre carries the large numeral '10' in white, flanked left and right by the denomination legend 'Pfennig' in Gothic Fraktur script on blue banners. Above the vignette, a ribbon cartouche bears the issuer inscription 'Gemeinde Blankenese.' in ornate Fraktur lettering. Below, three lines of small italic German text state the redemption notice dated 'Blankenese, 15. März 1921', followed by a manuscript signature of the Gemeindevorsteher (municipal mayor) and a red serial number at lower left.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in blue on cream paper and carries a large central vignette of a fully-rigged three-masted sailing ship under full sail on open waters, rendered in a fine engraved style with clouds and a coastline in the background. Above the vignette, four lines of patriotic German verse in italic Fraktur script open with 'Es kehrt von großer Fahrt nach Haus / Ein Vollschiff, reich an Frachten;'. Below the vignette, a further four lines of verse conclude with 'O deutsches Land, o Vaterland, / Dir gilt das letzte Lieben.'
