Opmerkingen

Tumeltsham is a village in Upper Austria with a population that barely cleared a thousand in 1920 — one of the smallest issuers in the entire Austrian Notgeld wave. The municipality printed these notes out of sheer necessity after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left rural communities without adequate small change. Josef Gadringer signed as deputy mayor (Stellvertreter); Anton Diermayr as Bürgermeister — both local officials stepping well outside their administrative remit by authorizing circulating paper.

Villages at this scale typically printed in very short runs, and survival rates reflect that.
