The circumferential legend GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR runs around the periphery in raised Latin lettering, separated from the inner design by a raised circular border. The entire coin is bounded by a fine milled border of beads. The design, attributed to engraver Derwent Wood, combines heraldic symbolism with clean, functional aesthetics suited to a holed circulation coin. |
