The figure is rendered in the Byzantine hieratic style characteristic of late 12th-century scyphate coinage, with drapery folds indicated by incuse lines. The design is a provincial imitation of Byzantine prototypes, exhibiting the simplified, somewhat crude workmanship typical of Bulgarian imitative trachea. The concave flan shows considerable wear and surface patination consistent with circulation. |
