| Beschrijving voorzijde | The Virgin Mary (Theotokos) depicted enthroned facing, seated upon a backless throne in frontal position, her hands visible in an orant or presenting gesture. The figure is rendered in the Byzantine hieratic style characteristic of late 12th-century scyphate coinage, with drapery folds indicated by incuse lines. The design is a provincial imitation of Byzantine prototypes, exhibiting the simplified, somewhat crude workmanship typical of Bulgarian imitative trachea. The concave flan shows considerable wear and surface patination consistent with circulation. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A standing imperial figure facing, depicted in full-length frontal pose, holding a globus cruciger in one hand, closely imitating the reverse type of Byzantine Emperor Isaac II Angelos (1185–1195). The imperial regalia and costume are rendered in a simplified manner, reflecting the imitative nature of Bulgarian trachea of this period. Drapery and regalia details, including loros and crown, are suggested by broadly struck incuse lines. The overall workmanship is cruder than the Byzantine prototypes, consistent with local Bulgarian mint production during the reign of the Asen dynasty. |
