| Popis rubu | A standing imperial figure facing, depicted in full-length frontal pose, holding a globus cruciger in one hand, closely imitating the reverse type of Byzantine Emperor Isaac II Angelos (1185–1195). The imperial regalia and costume are rendered in a simplified manner, reflecting the imitative nature of Bulgarian trachea of this period. Drapery and regalia details, including loros and crown, are suggested by broadly struck incuse lines. The overall workmanship is cruder than the Byzantine prototypes, consistent with local Bulgarian mint production during the reign of the Asen dynasty. |
