Within the concave field, traces of an extremely debased and abstracted bearded male head oriented to left may be discerned, the facial features reduced to rudimentary elements including an H-shaped schematic nose area. The design represents an advanced stage of Celtic coin degeneration from earlier Macedonian prototypes, retaining only vestigial figural elements. No legend or inscription is present. |

The Boii of western Slovakia were under sustained pressure from Dacian expansion throughout the first century BC — Burebista's campaigns in the 60s BC effectively shattered Boiian tribal confederacy and drove surviving populations westward.
