A large round shield or solar disc lies at his feet in the lower field. The ethnic legend ΣEΛΓEΩN is inscribed vertically along the left field. The design is contained within a beaded border, and the powerful, muscular rendering of the figure is characteristic of the accomplished die-engraving style associated with Selge in the Classical to early Hellenistic period. |
