The figure is set on a ground line above the exergual inscription COMOB, the standard Byzantine mint mark denoting gold of Constantinople quality. The surrounding legend VICTORIΛ ΛVCCCΛ is distributed around the periphery in characteristically barbarous Frankish letterforms, and a beaded border frames the entire composition. |
