| 表面の説明 | Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic style characteristic of Thessalian coinage. The youthful male effigy displays flowing hair bound with a laurel wreath, with fine facial features visible in three-quarter relief. The portrait occupies the full flan, with no legend or inscription present on the obverse field. The die work reflects local Thessalian engraving traditions of the late Classical to early Hellenistic period. |

Larissa Phrikonis was a minor Thessalian city whose civic coinage is frequently conflated with the far more prolific issues of Larissa proper — the two are geographically close and share iconographic traditions, which has caused persistent misattribution in older collections. The obol denomination at this weight sits at the fractional end of a local silver economy that was already being squeezed out by Macedonian royal issues flooding Thessaly after Philip II's reorganization of the region following 344 BC.
