| 裏面の説明 | Head of Athena facing left, wearing a crested Attic helmet with a broad, fan-like plume spreading to the right, rendered in radiating lines. The portrait is set within a pronounced beaded border encircling the entire field, characteristic of the Lycian civic coinage of Xanthos. The style is consistent with late fifth- to early fourth-century Greek die-cutting traditions in Lycia. |

Xanthos was the dominant city of Lycia in this period, ruled by dynasts who operated in an uncomfortable space between Persian imperial authority and local autonomy. The Lycian dynastic coinage of the late fifth and early fourth centuries is among the most regionally distinctive in the Greek world — minted under rulers whose names appear in Lycian script on related issues, a language only partially deciphered into the twentieth century.
BMC Greek 109 places this piece within a well-documented sequence, but the precise dynast responsible for its issue remains a matter of ongoing scholarly debate.
