The lettering is crudely executed in the Merovingian barbarous style, with letters of varying size and alignment, characteristic of early Frankish municipal coinage. No portrait or figurative element is present; the inscription occupies the entirety of the coin's obverse field. The fabric is rough and the strike off-center, typical of sixth-century hammered silver coinage from the Marseille mint. |
