Stratonikeia, the Carian city refounded by the Seleucids in the third century BC, issued civic coinage with growing confidence as Seleucid power receded. The magistrate name Khairemon appears on a small run of hemidrachms datable to the city's period of autonomy before Mithridates VI absorbed much of western Anatolia into his sphere during the First Mithridatic War — the probable terminus for this series.
The SNG von Aulock specimens remain the primary reference points for attribution, reflecting how thinly documented individual Stratonikiean magistrate issues remain in the broader literature.
