Obverse description Draped bust of a female divinity, identified as Kore Soteira or Aphrodite, facing left in high relief. The hair is elaborately dressed, bound with a diadem or wreath, with loose wavy strands falling in front of the ear and a large rounded chignon at the nape of the neck secured by a sakkos or hair-net. The modeling of the face is refined and naturalistic, characteristic of late fifth-century Propontine die-cutting, with delicate features and a smooth cheek. The field is plain.
