| Reverse description | Zoroastrian fire altar at centre, flanked by two attendant figures standing facing inward in the manner of the Sasanian prototype. The altar is rendered in a schematic, debased style with a stepped base and a flame-like projection at the top. Each attendant wears a diadem or tiara and holds a staff or sword, their garments summarily indicated by parallel vertical striations. Degenerate Pahlavi and Bactrian legends appear in the field to either side of the altar, partially blundered and only partially legible, including the mint name ΒΑΧΛΟ (Balkh) in Bactrian script along the right margin. |
