Wenceslaus II held the Margraviate of Moravia from 1278 as part of the broader Přemyslid consolidation of Bohemian lands, though his authority there was exercised largely through appointed officials while he focused on the Bohemian crown he acquired in 1283. Bracteates of this type circulated in a regional economy still recovering from the Mongol raids of the previous generation and the dynastic chaos of the Interregnum. Moravian bracteate production of this period is poorly documented in contemporary mint records, and Cach's classification into "small," "medium," and "large" groupings reflects die-size distinctions rather than any surviving administrative hierarchy of issue.
