Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed in the central field, with an orb on its breast, the whole contained within a beaded inner circle. The two heads are shown in profile facing outward, each surmounted by a separate imperial crown, with a third overarching crown above. The surrounding Latin legend names the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II and is separated from the design by the beaded border. The bold, graphic treatment of the eagle is consistent with the heraldic conventions of the late sixteenth-century Holy Roman Empire.
