Prymnessus was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Tiberius leaned heavily on local identity — the magistrate name Artas and the ethnic epithet ΦΙΛΟΠΑΤΡΙΣ ("lover of his homeland") both appear here as deliberate assertions of local prestige within a conventus dominated by the larger center at Synnada. Such epithets on civic bronzes from this period were not boilerplate; they were chosen by the issuing authority and reflect genuine civic pride, or occasionally political maneuvering within the Roman administrative structure.
