| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a central vignette reproducing a facsimile of a handwritten Latin letter by Martin Luther to Emperor Charles V, dated Friedberg, Dominica Cantate 1521, with the subscription 'Martinus Luther'; the manuscript text is rendered in a warm beige-grey wash underprint over which the facsimile script is overprinted in black. A header panel at the top is divided by the Luther Rose coat-of-arms in the centre, with a parallel Latin text on the left and a German translation on the right, both printed in black on a red-ochre ground.
