| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in multicolour with a dark background and presents the municipal coat of arms of Ortelsburg at centre — a shield showing a leaping red stag before a stand of green conifers over a green hillside — framed by oak branches on either side. The denomination 'Fünfzig Pfg.' appears in red Gothic lettering in cartouches at upper left and upper right, with the issuing authority 'Stadt Ortelsburg Masuren' inscribed across the top in a decorative panel. At lower centre, a validating text clause and the issue date 'Ortelsburg 11. Juli 1921' appear alongside a facsimile magistrate signature in an oval cartouche at lower right, with the printer's imprint 'Flemming-Wiskott A.G. Glogau' at the very foot of the note. |

| Reverse description | The reverse carries a large monochrome engraved panoramic vignette of Ortelsburg after its destruction during the Russian incursion of 1914, with ruined and damaged buildings in the foreground and the town's skyline reflected in a lake beyond. A caption panel at the top centre identifies the scene, and decorative branch-and-twig borders in ochre frame the entire composition. At lower centre the denomination '50' appears in a gilt-style cartouche flanked by 'Pfg.' on each side, below which runs a two-column verse inscription in Gothic script. |
