To the left stands the crowned cross of Monaco, flanked by the motto DEO JUVANTE. The circular legend HERCUL·MONOEC· frames the upper portion of the field, while the date 1924 appears in the exergue. The engraver's signature E M LINDAUER is discreetly placed in the lower field. The design was executed by Edmond-Émile Lindauer, the prolific French engraver responsible for numerous Third Republic token and coin issues. |

The Crédit Foncier de Monaco was established specifically to issue token coinage for the Principality during a period when Monaco lacked the facilities and political framework to produce its own state currency. These cupro-aluminium pieces of 1924 were emergency tokens rather than sovereign issues — a private credit institution filling a monetary gap that the Grimaldi administration could not immediately address through official channels.
The alloy choice was purely pragmatic given postwar metal shortages across Europe.
