Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features a large heraldic composition consisting of two coats of arms: the upper shield bears the Prussian eagle displayed, flanked on either side by ornate supporters rendered as crowned eagle heads with elaborate plumage and scrollwork mantling. The lower shield is quartered and depicts various heraldic animals including a bull and a stag, referencing Hindenburg family armorial bearings. The surrounding legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH FUNF REICHSMARK, arranged along the upper and left periphery, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. The artistic execution reflects the medallic relief style characteristic of Karl Goetz.

Beschrijving keerzijde Prominent right-facing bare-headed bust of Paul von Hindenburg, rendered in high medallic relief with strongly modeled facial features, deep-set eyes, prominent jowls, and closely cropped hair, in the naturalistic portrait style for which engraver Karl Goetz was renowned. The curved legend REICHSPRÄSIDENT VON HINDENBURG arcs across the upper field. The birth and commemorative years 1847-1927 appear in the lower field. The mint mark D is positioned to the left of the portrait, and the engraver's signature K. GOETZ is incused near the truncation. A beaded border frames the design.
