| Obverse description | Central field features a large heraldic composition consisting of two coats of arms: the upper shield bears the Prussian eagle displayed, flanked on either side by ornate supporters rendered as crowned eagle heads with elaborate plumage and scrollwork mantling. The lower shield is quartered and depicts various heraldic animals including a bull and a stag, referencing Hindenburg family armorial bearings. The surrounding legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH FUNF REICHSMARK, arranged along the upper and left periphery, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. The artistic execution reflects the medallic relief style characteristic of Karl Goetz. |
