The tughra occupies the majority of the flan and serves as the primary design element, executed in raised relief against a plain field. The surrounding legend, in Arabic script, reads the sultan's epithets and titles encircling the device. The overall composition is characteristic of early nineteenth-century Ottoman provincial coinage, with the tughra slightly smaller in the KM#168.1 variety. |

The legends are boldly struck in raised relief, typical of Cairo Mint production of this period. The KM#168.2 variety is distinguished by a larger tughra and legend compared to KM#168.1. |
