| Obverse description | Central field features a group of traditional weapons arranged in a decorative arrangement, surrounded by a circular Arabic legend. The inscription names Sultan Said Ali bin Said Omar, ruler of Anjouan (Ndzuwani), with an invocation for divine protection, dated 1308 AH. The design is executed in low relief typical of French colonial pattern coinage of the late 19th century. |
