正面描述 The central field bears the full coat of arms of Barbados, depicting a shield charged with a bearded fig tree flanked by two Pride of Barbados flowers, supported to the left by a dolphin (fish) and to the right by a pelican. Above the shield rises a helmet surmounted by a mailed arm grasping two crossed pieces of sugarcane. A flowing ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in two sections reading PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The date of issue is divided to either side of the supporters, with a trident mint mark appearing beneath each date numeral. The legend BARBADOS curves along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border.

附加信息

Barbados gained independence from Britain in November 1966, but did not establish its own decimal coinage until 1973, when the Central Bank was formally empowered to issue currency. The seven-year gap meant Barbados had been operating with Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority notes and coins in the interim. The 1973 issues across all denominations were the first coins struck specifically for the independent nation, produced at the Franklin Mint in Pennsylvania under a contract that also covered several other newly independent Caribbean states.
