| Description de l’avers | The central field bears the full coat of arms of Barbados, depicting a shield charged with a bearded fig tree flanked by two Pride of Barbados flowers, supported to the left by a dolphin (fish) and to the right by a pelican. Above the shield rises a helmet surmounted by a mailed arm grasping two crossed pieces of sugarcane. A flowing ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in two sections reading PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The date of issue is divided to either side of the supporters, with a trident mint mark appearing beneath each date numeral. The legend BARBADOS curves along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border. |

| Description du revers | The central design features a detailed depiction of the South Point Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Barbados, rendered in fine relief against a scenic background of billowing clouds and radiating light beams emanating from a sun partially obscured behind the tower. A low keeper's building is visible at the base of the lighthouse. The engraver's initials PN appear discreetly in the lower right field near the base of the tower. The denomination legend FIVE CENTS curves along the lower periphery within a beaded border. |
