| Opmerkingen |
The Künstlerverein St. Lucas was one of dozens of German artists' associations that issued their own Notgeld during the hyperinflationary spiral of the early 1920s — but unlike municipal emergency money, these notes were as much an artistic exercise as a monetary stopgap. The St. Lucas association in Magdeburg used the format to circulate original graphic work among members and the local public, which is why surviving examples often show considerably more design ambition than contemporary civic issues.
Collector demand absorbed much of the print run almost immediately, meaning genuine circulation wear is uncommon.
