| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed in teal-blue and red on white paper, with a large central white circular vignette bearing the bold Gothic numeral '25' above the denomination inscription 'Pfennig' in Fraktur script. Four red ceramic jugs with floral decoration occupy each corner of the note, framing the central motif. Validity inscriptions 'GÜLTIG NUR IM AUSSTELLUNGSGEBÄUDE' appear in two columns flanking the central circle, with the designer's name 'KURT SCHMELZ' and the printer's imprint 'W. J. Marburg's 1921 notgeld issue is unusual even within the collector-series boom of the Weimar inflation years — it was produced specifically for a philatelic and notgeld exhibition, meaning it was designed from the outset as an object of display rather than exchange. The printer, W. J. Becker's Kunstanstalt, was a local Marburg firm, which kept the design and production entirely within the town, a rarity when most municipalities farmed such work out to larger specialist houses.
Kurt Schmelz's involvement as designer places this squarely in the artisan tradition of the Serienscheine movement, where local artists were commissioned to produce themed issues that doubled as miniature graphic art.
