| Beschrijving keerzijde | At center, a bold plain cross of Saint George is set within a quadrilobe formed by four rounded lobes, each lobe adorned with a foliate or floral ornament at the interstices of the cross arms, creating an elegant and symmetrical composition. A beaded inner circle frames the central device. The surrounding circular Latin legend, reading clockwise, incorporates the date '1696' (or '1697' on the overdate variety) divided within the inscription. The design is deeply struck with crisp relief, characteristic of the milled gold coinage produced at the Bahia Mint. |
