The standard 2012 200 Rand issue incorporated Omron rings — the constellation pattern used by modern printing equipment to detect and refuse reproduction of banknotes. This variant was issued without them, almost certainly the result of a production batch leaving the South African Bank Note Company's Pretoria facility before the feature was applied or verified.
