Beschrijving voorzijde Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III, depicted in a mature and dignified portrait with a suit and tie visible at the truncation. The king's likeness is rendered in high relief against a polished mirror field. The legend CHARLES III curves along the left rim, while D.G.REX arcs along the upper right. A small engraver's initial mark appears at the lower right of the portrait. The overall style is classical and restrained, befitting a modern Commonwealth gold issue.

Aanvullende informatie

The three-masted schooner holds a specific place in Canadian maritime commerce: vessels of this rig dominated the Great Lakes bulk trade through the nineteenth century, hauling lumber, grain, and coal before steam power made them obsolete almost overnight. The shift was abrupt enough that dozens were abandoned in harbors rather than sold, their hulls simply not worth converting.
